Cheese travels well when it's packed properly. Most cheesemongers send orders in insulated boxes with ice packs by next-day courier. Hard cheeses such as Cheddar and Comté are the safest to post. Soft and very ripe cheeses are best ordered for delivery early in the week so they don't sit in a depot over the weekend.

Put it in the fridge as soon as it arrives. Hard cheeses keep for a few weeks once cut. Soft cheeses are best eaten within a few days to a week.
In early December if you can. Shops set a last order date for Christmas delivery and popular cheeses sell out before it.
